Fathers Day finishes in 26th at Kentucky
DJ Kennington, Randy MacDonald and the Mahindra Tractors #81 crew finished their 26th finish in Kentucky at midnight of Father's Day. "This was a decent run for us, some ground gained but nothing lost either", claimed Kennington. After qualifying 34th, DJ quickly moved up the charts and stalled in the 26th position by the end of the night.
"We learned some more things with this car and I feel very confident about our chances at Milwaukee next week." Kennington who also is competing for a Championship quickly jumped in a car and headed to Mossport in Canada for a race the next morning in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. "This was special for us as we were the only team in the Series that gave honor to our fathers. That says something about the group of people I work with everyday!" Kennington will be back at Milwaukee next week in the Mahindra Tractors, NPP, MC2 Energy Drink Dodge.
DJ Kennington and the MacDonald Motorsports 81 crew started the weekend a little rough. After a starting the weekend 36th on the grid for the Camping World 250, Kennington assured the crew that the qualifying position was no indication of the position they would finish in.
The St Thomas, Ontario, Canada native was not to proven wrong as he immediately climbed into the top 30. "The car was pretty tight there at the beginning and we caught some good breaks with a few long runs and cautions." By the midway point, Kennington had the Mahindra Tractors, NPP, MC2 Energy Drink Dodge firmly in a racing pack in the 27th position.
"We were racing with some of strong cars like Steven Wallace, Kevin Lepage, and Brad Coleman, so we knew we could run with the pack." Kennington was correct as by the time the 81 crew made his final pit stop, Kennington was among the fastest cars on the track. "We really had it stuck in the track like no other on the last run. We definetly found something at the end and was able to gain some more spots." Kennington finished the race in 24th and was again a career high at the Milwakee Mile.
"The great thing about running this season for me, is its all new. We raced here last year, but wasnt nearly as competitive. Each week is another new track for me or one that I can better my performance on." During the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series, Kennington has seen a new track 14 of the 17 races. In addition, DJ has improved on his previous performance each time he straps into the car. "Its all about seat time,", he adds. "Its a learning curve for not only myself but this team. I feel really good about how we will compete as the season hits the last half of the schedule."
Kennington's 24th place finish at Milwaukee moved him back into 22nd in the drivers standings and the team just 5 points from the 26th position in Owner Points. "We are gaining on the teams and drivers we want set our goals on. Our team has 1/4th the employees and resources but they cant match our heart and desire."

Veteran-Owner MacDonald rolls to 26th at NHMS

Car Owner and Veteran of all three NASCAR Series', Randy MacDonald returned to the controls of the #81 this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. "We had some problems with a change in the travel for DJ this weekend, so I got to return to action", stated MacDonald.
Randy started the weekend with a solid 36th qualifying run. "It wasnt bad run but we always run better than we qualify, so I felt really good about the race preperation."
Just a handful of laps into the race, MacDonald had quickly moved into the top 30 and raced hard with leaders, Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin. "We were trying to hold our own and stay on the lead lap but track position got the best of us."
The Mahindra Tractors/N.P.P./Vector Security team worked hard on the car and picked up positions in the pits all day. As the checkered flag waved, MacDonald was relieved and smiling. "It felt good to be back in the car and compete with these guys, but I have no problem handing the wheel back to DJ next week", MacDonald joked. "
The 81 crew will now look at Daytona for a Friday night race as they vow for redemption. "We raced in the top 5-10 all day at the last restrictor plate race at Talladega. A cut tire with 20 laps cost us a top 5. We are fired up and ready to put the Mahindra Dodge back up front next weekend."
